Gymiha
A gym app with no ads, no paywall and no internet required. I built the tool I wanted at the squat rack — then shipped it to both stores.
The problem
The fitness app market is enormous and almost uniformly hostile to beginners: accounts before value, subscriptions before results, ads between sets. When I started training seriously, I followed a simple structured programme and made real progress — and realized the tool I wanted didn't exist: straight to the point, works in a basement gym with no signal, free to actually use.
What I built
- Three structured programmes (Masse, Voltage, Foundation) running four to six days a week, with programmed rest and recovery guidance.
- 49 animated exercise demonstrations — form, target muscles, safety cues — with one-tap alternatives when equipment is taken.
- Body tracking (weight trends, BMI) stored on-device only. No account. No analytics harvest.
- Offline-first by architecture, not as an afterthought: every feature works in airplane mode.
- Full localization in English, French and Arabic with proper RTL layout.
Where it's going
The roadmap is a consistency-ranked community — closer to Strava than to a workout PDF: share the session when you finish, climb a ladder that rewards showing up. The gym becomes a game that levels up your body in real life.
Gymiha is also my product-engineering reference: one person owning research, design, build, localization, store review and post-launch iteration end to end.
